The Big Half is a new running event and will be held for the first time on Sunday 4 March 2018.
As a supporter of Friends of Island Gardens you could get a place in The Big Half for just £10!
Created by London Marathon Events Ltd, in partnership with Sported, The Big Half is a new one day festival centred around the half marathon distance, which aims to be truly global and uniquely local in a celebration of the wonderful cultural diversity of the great city of London.
There's more info on The Big Half website.
At Friends of Island Gardens we've applied for community places to give you the chance to take part for just £10.
Just £10 but we are also asking you to become a patron of Friends of Island gardens if you are not already (£25 for the year).
Regular places (now full) were £39 and places for Tower Hamlets residents (now also full) were £30, so at £10, these places offer a significant saving on the full entry fee.
We have a limited number of places for our supporters.
Make sure you apply ASAP. That's to give us time to notify you and for you to pay your £10 entry fee before the cut off for registration with the race organisers which is on the afternoon of Friday 16th Feb.
Please note, we would like you to become a patron (donating £25 or more) before we offer you a place (in the unlikely event we can't give you a place, we'll gladly refund you if you ask us).
A. No. While some community organisations and charities are asking for runners to raise sponsorship, we've decided at FOIG not to do that. Instead,we're just asking runners successful in getting one of our places to sign up as a 2018 Patron of FOIG (which involves donating £25 or more to FOIG).
A. Yes.
And we're asking all runners to support us for 2018 at the Patron level of membership or to be a regular volunteer/committee member and be a Friend. Becoming a patron costs £25 for an individual or £45 for a couple at the same address and you can join via our website here.
A. Yes, if you would like to, but we don't require or expect it.
A. Yes, if you would like to, but you must tell us which one, and we must agree, which we most likely will.
A. Before 16th Feb - most likely sooner.
A. Because we feel that The Big Half fits well with our organisational aims of promoting community togetherness and we wanted to give our supporters access to this event as it is so local to us.
